* Rajendra Joshi, Managing Trustee, Saath is awarded The Schwab Foundation’s India Social Entrepreneurs 2009 Award ahead of the India   Economic Summit in New Delhi, India, 8-10 November 2009.  

* Livelihood Resource Centre inaugurated at Behrampura on the 3rd of February.

* Saath turned 20 on the 28th of February 2009 !

* LRC inaugurated at Vadodara on 26th March 2009 !

Saath URBAN

The new economic order has led to rapid growth in the urban sector. Based mainly on economic needs the rural population is forced to risk migration.

Saath’s key focus has been in the areas of health, education, livelihood, infrastructure development and microfinance with the aim of making these basic services affordable and accessible to the urban poor.

Saath RURAL

After the Gujarat Earthquake, SAATH began rehabilitation work in Khadir, Kutch and since then its work has expanded to livelihoods, education, health, microfinance and access to resources and services. The work is being conducted in:  

  • Surendranagar
  • Maliya 
Internships
 
Learning opportunities for students and development professionals are open throughout the year. There are two types: 
 
  • Individual Internships
  • Partner Internships 
 
Research & Documentation Cell (RDC)

Initiated in the year 2000, the RDC includes in-house Documentation and Research. It also takes up external research and presentations based on this research. 

Developmental Support 

Supports development activities which are not integral to Saath programs.

Tasks undertaken so far include Implementation of Resettlement Action Plan in the Four Laning & Upgradation of National Highways in Gujarat (East- West Corridor) from Porbander to Samakhiali and Gorakhpur to Gopalgunj in Bihar by the National Highway Authority of India.
