Internships at SAATH are an opportunity for students and development professionals from around the world to experience working with a grass-root level organisation and contributing to issues such as livelihoods, education, health and urban and rural development. There are two types of Internships one can apply: This is an opportunity for individuals (students and working professionals below the age of 35 years) who would be interested in taking up an internship within SAATH’s existing programmes. 'SAATH IT Internship Programme 2010' Are you a recent graduate in IT or someone who is working in the sector and wants to move into the the non profit sector in India? Are you passionate about the idea of market-based strategies for improving the lives of the urban and rural poor? Do you want to use your professional IT expertise to improve development for the poor in India? If so, the new SAATH IT Internship Programme may be for you. SAATH is a an NGO that seeks to improve the livelihoods of the urban poor by using social enterprise models and by getting our target communities involved in designing solutions that are right for them. Our work is around providing initiatives of a high quality, that are sustainable and inclusive. We were recently awarded the United Nations Development Programme's prestigious Social Entrepreneur of the Year award. We are launching a new IT Internship Programme where we are are looking to recruit two IT interns to work with us for a year to develop and refine our IT infrastructure across a range of poverty reduction programmes. You will get exposure to a range of development initiatives and will be a person that we can rely on to guide the development of our IT software, and hardware. You will use your knowledge, and possible working experiences, to consider different IT solutions, and will have the intellect to recommend what the best strategy for SAATH is. This is a demanding role, which will be rewarded financially (through a stipend and a living allowance) but more importantly one in which you will be part of changing India's future - to make it more inclusive for all. by 10th April, 2010. Interviews, can be carried out in person, or via skype. Please note, this position will be full time, and will be based in Ahmedabad, at SAATH's head office. These are internships that are offered by various colleges and universities within whose curriculum Internships are mandatory.
